FOCUSED
Personalised Nutrition and Lifestyle Programme for Cancer Prevention and Support
This programme supports you closely with appropriate dietary, nutritional, lifestyle and mind-body approaches if you are recovering from illness and want to harness the benefits of tending to your ‘body terrain’ for better recovery, enhanced health and improved wellbeing.
Nutritional therapy and lifestyle medicine are a significant resource in both cancer prevention, as well as a supportive measure during and after cancer treatment. While no outcomes can be guaranteed when dealing with cancer, enhancing your overall health remains a very effective strategy.
The Focused Programme aims at supporting the body's innate abilities to heal, removing factors that may be contributing to imbalance, and improving body functions. My approach to cancer support is grounded in the latest evidence from integrative oncology., and my goal is to assist you in sorting through this conflicting information, enabling you to eat in a way that supports your health goals, feel better, and manage the side effects of cancer treatment.
With this aims in mind, I may use blood and functional testing to create a personalised approach to your health and address key areas and functions by:
-
Reducing inflammation and supporting the immune system
-
Ensuring nutrient availability
-
Assessing and removing harmful toxins
-
Optimising metabolic and mitochondrial health
-
Supporting gut health and the gut microbiome
-
Regulating hormone levels and metabolism
-
Addressing genetic predispositions (SNPs)
-
Supporting the circadian (day-night) rhythm
-
Managing stress (body and mind)
The standard of care for cancer treatment is focused on removing the tumour (the symptom) to reduce its impact on your health. Alongside it, looking after the body terrain aims at restoring health at the cellular level by addressing some of the fundamental aspects that influence the body microenvironment.
If you are committed and ready to maximise your healing potential, I’d be delighted to help you in this process, where we work together through powerful nutritional and lifestyle changes that are specific to your situation, your needs and your life, so that you can take charge of your health and thrive, whatever the circumstances.

More about cancer support:
Most of us intuitively understand that our health has roots in the way we live, including everything we experience and are exposed to – the type and quality of our food, water, air, environment, levels of happiness or distress, the quality of thoughts, emotions, community and spiritual connection, and more.
Scientific evidence clearly supports the notion that all these factors can either help create the conditions for health and wellbeing, or set the scene for dysfunction and disease to take hold.
It make sense then to recognise that, when facing a challenging health issue such as cancer, going back to the ‘soil’ (our ‘body terrain’ as it is called) and learning how to nourish and strengthen it can have a great impact on our ability not only to withstand the illness and reduce the risk of recurrence, but also on mitigating the side effects of difficult treatments that may be used in the medical settings.

INTEGRATIVE ONCOLOGY is a patient-centred, evidence-informed field of cancer care that utilises mind and body practices, natural products and lifestyle modifications alongside conventional cancer treatments to optimise health, quality of life, and clinical outcomes across the cancer care continuum, and to empower people to prevent cancer and become active participants before, during, and beyond cancer treatment.

The body is like a garden: if the soil is well tended,
plants flourish, weeds wither and storms are conquered
Supporting the body and mind through cancer is impactful at any stage:
Prevention: this is when diet and lifestyle changes are most powerful in reducing the risk of disease
Diagnosis: to help strengthen the body, optimise treatment outcomes, and mitigate side effects
Post-treatment: when often time patients are left to deal with the short- and long-term physical and psychological consequences of a truly transformative life event; this is when diet and lifestyle can help rebuild and restore health, as well as reduce the risk of recurrence.
The environment our bodies are exposed to through our diet, lifestyle, thoughts and emotions, filters down and becomes the environment that surrounds our cells (cellular microenvironment or body terrain). The microenvironment guides the physiology and fate of our cells. When all is well within the body terrain, our cells are healthy and they behave in a normal appropriate manner. But, if the health of our microenvironment deteriorates, then cells can no longer function in an optimal way, and a ‘tumour microenvironment’ emerges that drives the genetic changes that allow cancer to form and develop.

Does the Programme have to be used within a specific time frame?Generally yes. We find that what our clients receive from our sessions is more effective if they make a commitment to work within the recommended time frame of 3 to 4 months. However, we reserve the option to apply flexibility and adapt timelines based on each client's needs, depending on what's best to support them at any specific time.
-
What happens in between consultations?Email support dealing specifically with the client's diet & lifestyle plan is offered as part of the Empowered Programme, which is from 3 to 4 months. Outside of these, clients with specific questions that require in depth review of their history are encouraged to book a follow-up consultation. Silvia is always available for any general questions and to discuss next steps.
-
What happens if I am not able to attend a planned session?Cancellations: We understand that you sometimes need to cancel appointments. If you cancel up to 48 hours before your appointment you will be able to reschedule it at a later date, depending on availability. Appointments cancelled within 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation charge (£75) or will be forgone from your programme. If there is an urgent situation and you need to cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice please contact us as soon as possible and re-scheduling will be agreed on an individual basis. Missed appointments: failing to attend a scheduled appointment without any warning will results in that specific appointment being forgone from your programme.
-
What happens when I have used up all my sessions? You are welcome to discuss further steps with Silvia, so that she can support you in deciding what suits you best moving forward.
-
What happens if I am not able to start the Programme I have already paid for, or to continue with the sessions I have left in my Programme? For Programmes that have not started yet: we can offer you a refund (minus an administration fee of £75) if, after payment, you are unable to go ahead and start working with Silvia. For Programmes that have already started: given the nature of the functional medicine approach - whereby a great deal of the ground work is carried out in advance of the initial consultation, and again in between appointments and after each appointment - please note that refunds for part-completed programmes are not available.
