are you curious about a personalised approach to  health & vitality, which is based on your own  individual blueprint?

Nutrigenomics allows you to go deeper into understanding your body's individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. It  reveals how your body responds to nutrients, and how this can be used to prevent disease and improve health.

By investigating common genetic variants in your DNA, you will be able to answer questions about how well your body is able to manage fats and sugar, eliminate toxins, utilise nutrients from food, respond to inflammatory triggers, handle oxidative stress, metabolise gluten and lactose, and much more... keep scrolling for more information!

Bundle Offer

How will this work?
Follow these 3 simple steps:

Purchase the bundle

Within a few days you will receive a DNA test kit by Nordic Laboratories (at the address you have provided), with instructions for collecting your sample and sending it back to the Lab.

Take the test

Collect your sample (blood spot) by following the simple instructions included in the kit, send it back to the Lab (parcel materials are included).

Your results will be ready in three-four weeks from the time your sample is received.

Work with me

Once results are on their way to me, I will be in touch with you to arrange our consultation at a date that is convenient for you.
Beforehand I will ask you to complete a brief online health questionnaire, where you have the opportunity to flag any health issues or concerns you are looking to address.

Terms and Conditions - Please read!

Buy purchasing this product, you understand that:

  • Your giving me permission to share your details (name, DOB, email, physical address) with the testing company (Nordic Laboratories), who will need to contact you with instruction and to send the test kit to the address you have provided.

  • That the test involves collecting a blood sample in the form of a blood spot, which consists in placing a drop or two of your blood onto a special piece of paper, included in the test kit.

  • That you are responsible for using the packaging material provided by the testing company to send the sample back to the Lab by following the instructions provided in the test kit.

  • That the test results will take approximately 3-4 weeks to be ready, and that they will be sent to me first. I will then forward the report to you, and arrange all the necessary next steps with you, including completing a short online questionnaire where I will ask you a few general questions about your health and your health goals.

Disclaimer:

While SNP testing offers many advantages, it’s also important to consider potential limitations:

Privacy: Ensure you understand that your genetic data will be used and stored by the testing company.

Emotional impact: Discovering genetic risks can be emotionally challenging.

Limitations of interpretation: Not all genetic risks are well understood, and having a genetic predisposition to a health imbalance does not mean that you will develop it.

Nutrigenomics

When Diet and Lifestyle Choices Become a Very Personal Affair

1. What is Nutrigenomics?

Simply put, it is the study of how our genes interact with nutrients, specifically:

  • how they influence our response to nutrients

  • how nutrition can affect the expression of our genes

In essence, Nutrigenomics provides insights into how certain people might need more or less of specific nutrients, how they metabolise foods, their risk for nutrition-related diseases, and the best dietary choices for their genetic profile.

Interestingly, this goes even beyond nutrients, as it also includes how an individual's genetic makeup influences their interaction with a variety of environmental factors, such as toxins, medications, perceived stress, light/dark cycle, and more

2. Which genetic factors are involved?

Without going into loads of technical details, nutrigenomics looks at small changes in the DNA sequence called SNPs (pronounced ‘snips’, standing for Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms), which are the most common type of genetic variation among people.

3. What is the difference between SNPs and genetic mutations?

SNPs are minor variations in the DNA sequence, they are very common in the population, and their effect on health and development mostly manifest at the level of predispositions towards certain imbalances and susceptibility to developing certain health conditions.

Gene mutations involve more significant changes in the DNA sequence and are far less common than SNPs. Mutations can occur spontaneously or can be passed down to future generations, and they can have a wide range of effects on an individual’s health and development, including causing disease.

4. What can you learn from testing your genetic SNPs?

With a view of optimising health through personalised diet and lifestyle choices, you may be able to answer questions along the lines of:

How well is your body able to manage fats (e.g. cholesterol) and balance sugar levels? How is this affecting your risk of developing cardiovascular disease?

Are you someone who needs extra amounts of certain nutrients to feel well (e.g. B vitamins, magnesium, vitamin D, omega-3)?

How easy is for your liver to get rid of the waste products that the body makes (metabolites) and to detoxify environmental toxins? How is this affecting your risk of cancer?

How well is your body able to manage the methylation cycle, a fundamental biochemical process involved in the regulation of functions like gene expression, DNA repair, detoxification, hormonal balance, neurotransmitter regulation, and more?

How does your body tend to respond to inflammatory triggers?

Are you predisposed to gluten intolerance? Lactose intolerance?

Are you someone who could obtain optimal nutrition from a plant-based diet, or would you be better off  by including some animal foods?

Should you put some extra effort in controlling oxidative stress levels in the body?

Let's find out together!
